Our recruiting timeline
Candidates are advised to apply before 28th February 2016 to be accepted into recruitment process for summer 2016 start.

How you recruit
We ask all applicants to complete an application form as well as sending in their CV and a cover letter. Initial interviews are then set up followed by some online tests. If successful through this first phase candidates are asked to attend a Development Day where we assess their suitability for the roles they are applying for. A decision is then made very shortly after the Development Day as to who we'd like to take on.

What we look for in a graduate
We recruit exceptional individuals to aid the future development and progression of our business. We require a passion for technology and continuous learning and encourages people to look at expanding their skills into areas they are interested in. There are no restrictions other than their own enthusiasm and thirst for learning.
If you enjoy working with customers, solving problems and have a passion for new technology and continuous learning, then we'd love to hear from you. Candidates must be expecting a 1st or 2:1 degree.

We offer roles to students wishing to take a placement year as part of their studies, 2nd/penultimate year students wishing to secure a role prior to completing their degree as well as final year/graduate students looking for their first permanent position.
We offer a substantial benefits package including flexible working attendance, minimum 25 days holidays plus statutory bank holidays, and for those offered graduate roles there are regular salary and development reviews, private family health care, stakeholder pension, death in service insurance and profit share scheme.

Typical career paths and progress
Waterstons offer two roles as part of our graduate recruitment scheme; Bespoke Consultants and Technology Consultants both being available to placement students, 2nd/penultimate year students wishing to secure a role prior to completing their degree as well as final year/graduate students looking for their first permanent position.

The Bespoke Consultants will be involved in the development of bespoke software systems and will include the analysis, specification, design, implementation and testing of software so being involved in the full development lifecycle and project management. Additionally they will be required to provide support on the development service desk to support existing applications for Waterstons clients. Current technologies used include C#, .Net, MVC, ASP.Net, WSP, SQL Server 2005/2008/2012/2014, SharePoint 2007/2010/2013 and Dynamics CRM.

The Technology Consultants are involved in design, deployment and support of resilient and secure client IT infrastructures. They will be involved in supporting client networks and systems and furthering their knowledge and problem solving skills on the managed services service desk. As they build experience they will be involved in further project work and network and solution design and implementation. Current technologies used include - the entire Microsoft server family, Cisco and Citrix VMware.

Both roles require that they must have the flexibility to work within all areas of the business as required and be able to adapt quickly and develop new skills. They will be working on demanding and varying projects and must be able to manage responsibility and multiple demands.
