Successful candidates will have achieved or expect to achieve a 2.1 at degree level in any discipline and have achievements which demonstrate the exceptional personal skills necessary to become a lawyer at Burges Salmon.
Our six seat training contract is designed to provide you with the greatest breadth of experience possible as a trainee solicitor. While traditional training contracts normally include four six-month seats, our trainee solicitors benefit from six four-month placements.
You will spend your first five seats within our main departments. You should expect to spend some time in Real Estate and will need to gain some contentious experience. Within each seat you will be encouraged to take work from right across the department, ensuring you gain a good breadth of experience in each area. Your final seat will always be spent in your qualification department, meaning you have four months in which to settle before starting your career as a newly qualified solicitor.
Trainees are given early responsibility balanced with an open door policy for advice and guidance from experienced supervisors. This enables our trainees to develop themselves as trusted business advisers quickly, contributing to the firm and deepening their professional expertise in a supportive and encouraging
We also offer 4 two-week vacation schemes each year, and several insight and presentation evenings for law students and law for non-law students.
WHEN WE RECRUIT: We recruit 2 years in advance and welcome applications from penultimate and final year law students, final year non-law students, graduates and those considering a change in career. You can submit an application to attend one of our summer vacation schemes, at the end of which you will be offered a training contract interview, or apply directly for a training contract by the end of July.
